Media Invitation: No Messin’ Live! Set To Get Rochdale Kids On The Right Tracks

Images Video Audio
Launch of No Messin’ Live! in Rochdale, a national campaign to stop young people messing around on the railway tracks, and reduce the number of resultant deaths and injuries by getting them doing something better with their time.

Up to 1,000 children a day are invited to take part in a host of activities, including: scaling the climbing wall, playing rugby, wrestling, DJ-ing and surfing on the surf simulator.

Journalists and photographers are invited to join Amir Khan and the children of Rochdale for the No Messin’ Live! experience
In the past year, almost 50 people were killed and hundreds more were injured either crossing the tracks, taking shortcuts, messing around or playing chicken.

Network Rail, which is behind the campaign, is running a series of free-to-attend events across England, Wales and Scotland this summer offering young people the chance to try out alternative activities, which – unlike playing on the railway – don’t involve risking injury, disfigurement and death.

The tour kicks off in July and runs through the summer holidays and is free to enter for all local children aged ten to sixteen. The event will be centred around sport, games and music and will give young people the opportunity to try out a range of activities from skateboarding to DJ lessons which they will be encouraged to continue after the tour has moved on.
