MP Dawn Butler To Highlight Successful Students At Last Ayekoo Networking Event

Brent South MP Dawn Butler will be on hand to present certificates to students at a networking and end of year event organised by Brent-based voluntary organisation BTWSC.
Ms Butler will present certificates to students who successfully completed BTWSC’s ASET Level 2 accredited Event Planning course. The free course, funded by Fast Forward Grants, took place in Tavistock Hall and Life FM in Harlesden.

BTWSC continues its work in Harlesden, where it organises the first Saturday of the month Ayekoo networking sessions at Mission Dine Club Centre. The last session until spring, is on 6th December, 3-6pm. In addition to the presentation, there will be a speed discussion from 3.30pm to 4.10pm on the topic ‘Is Segregation (e.g. schools and areas) The Way Forward?’, games, prizes, and an African meal cooked on the premises by the Centre manager Dame Betty Asafu-Adjaye for £5.

After the presentation and speech, Ms Butler will take questions. The last time the MP and recently appointed assistant whip of the Government was at the Centre, she contributed a bottle of wine signed by Prime Minister Gordon Brown to a fund-raising event organised in June by BTWSC for Dame Betty’s Mission Dine Club charity.

This is the community networking session to round off the year and plan for a better 2009. BTWSC will also launch its Heritage Lottery funded NARM role model project, which will be working with young people in Harrow, Brent, and Barnet schools in researching British male role models of African descent from 1907 to 2007 in order to produce book and resources.

Entry to Ayekoo event is free, though it is advisable to pre-book by contacting Ms Serwah, BTWSC co-ordinator on 020 8450 5987 or info@btwsc.com
