The current record was set on Saturday 3rd July 1999 in Sandwell. 314 Dhol players gathered together to set the first ever Dhol drumming record, and this was confirmed by the Guinness Book of Records! The event marked the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa (implementation of the Sikh faith). This year we are anticipating over 500 Dhol players to take part in breaking the record. . Look out for Dhol workshops across the UK in August leading up to the event, working in partnership with Dhol and Bhangra groups up and down the country. Details of workshops in your local community will be released soon. Every Dhol player who participates in this event will be given a T-shirt, trophy and certificate and their name will be forwarded to Guinness World Records! This event will mark the celebrations of the 300th Anniversary of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji – as the word Guru. Media XY have registered this event with Guinness World Records and will be working towards the guidelines in setting a new WORLD RECORD! Open to all regardless of age, gender and background. If you would like to participate or be a volunteer in Dhol Fest 2008 please log on to www.dholfest.com to register or for further info: Contact: Bindi Sandhu Mob: 07800 652209 Email: bindi@dholfest.com |
