Self-styled purveyor of ‘Tropical Punk’, Cibelle (‘See-bell-ee’), will grace stages across the UK this September for her 2nd tour of the year. With a new single White Hair out on Crammed Records, the seductively original Brazilian singer, producer and composer will be performing her unique style of dreamy electro folk.

Performing material from her previous two albums, as well as exclusive extracts from her much anticipated 3rd album (expected in 2009), Cibelle will be building tracks live on stage, welcoming special guests and inviting the audience to contribute to her ‘bric-a-brac DIY’ sound. Expect sweet vocals, creative playfulness and lots of instrumental experimentation.

Cibelle’s new 7” single White Hair, released in September and also available at her shows, features remixes from Canada’s No Kids and London producer Kwes.

Her last album The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves, released in the UK summer 2007, received glowing reviews and featured guest appearances from Seu Jorge, Devendra Banhart and CocoRosie collaborator Spleen, while Tunng’s Mike Lindsay and Air’s Yann Arnaud co-produced.

As one of Dalston’s Supine Studio’s artist collective, Cibelle’s peers include Lightspeed Champion, Johnny Flynn, Emmy the Great, Barbarossa and Josh Weller. She is also a pioneer of Rick Castro’s Abravanista Movement - a new wave of artists celebrating ‘moments of freedom, explosion and colour’ originating in São Paulo - and part of the AVAF artist collective and fur.uk.com.

Cibelle’s April 2008 tour had the Observer rank Cibelle as one of the top “3 to see” touring artists in the UK, alongside Bjork and Portishead.

“A sound which owes as much to Bjork as Devendra Banhart… Cibelle’s not only unafraid to mess with preconceptions, she’s also a budding star.” - NME

“Seductively inventive” - Uncut

“It's wonderfully refreshing to find intelligence and unconventionality worn so lightly and sunnily. This is iced mint tea for the ears.” - Daily Telegraph

“A brilliantly realized demonstration of vocal prowess” - The Independent
