'Joy of Conscious Living': A series of three evening talks in Leicester based on the wisdom of the Gita and the Upanishads

Images Video Audio
Life is a celebration and not a tragedy or comedy for those who live consciously. To live consciously is to live in awareness of who 'I am' under all circumstances. This awareness opens up a whole new dimension of one's existence which is free from pain and suffering. This state of 'being peace' is not 'because of' but 'in spite of' the world of changing thoughts, emotions and objects.
'Joy of Conscious Living' is a series of three talks presented by Chinmaya Mission UK based on teachings of the ancient contemplative texts, the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. The wisdom of these timeless spiritual scriptures is relevant to all regardless of faith or background. They introduce us to our own true nature and help discover peace and tranquility in the midst of our so called chaotic world.

The speaker is Brahmacharini Sumati Chaitanya, the resident Acharya (spiritual teacher) at the Chinmaya Mission UK Centre. Inspired by Swami Chinmayananda, Sumatiji joined the worldwide organisation in 1993 and has since dedicated her life to spreading the knowledge of Vedanta through conducting lectures, youth & adult study classes, meditation sessions and devotional singing. She has spearheaded the spiritual growth of hundreds of seekers in London, attracting many to Chinmaya Kirti (Chinmaya Mission UK Centre) as well as addressing audiences at Universities and Yoga Centres across various parts of the country. Sumatiji is a dynamo of unrelenting energy, spiritual service and practical wisdom, and has the unique ability to relate to all age groups.

'Joy of Conscious Living' from 19th - 21st September 2008 (7.30-9pm daily) at the Peepul Centre, 28 Orchardson Avenue, Leicester, LE4 6DP. Admission is free and talks are in English.

Chinmaya Mission was founded by the great Vedantic Master Swami Chinmayananda - the impetus behind these various events. It is a worldwide organisation that teaches the ancient Indian philosophy of Vedanta, the Science of Oneness. Those who attend and serve within the charity do so with the aim of maximising their potential and becoming positive contributors to society.

Chinmaya Mission UK offers:

- Comprehensive programs for children, youth, adults and senior citizens.
- Educational and research programs including Sanskrit and an E-Vedanta course.
- Spiritual literature for all age groups and audio/video recordings.
- Service projects in social and medical fields.

Our UK Centre is at:
Chinmaya Kirti, 2 Egerton Gardens, Hendon, London, NW4 4BA.
