Award winning chef introduces Nouvelle Caribbean Cuisine to South London

Images Video Audio
‘Anthony Cumberbatch is a talented and vibrant chef.’ Anthony Worrall Thompson MOGB

Award-winning chef Anthony Cumberbatch has launched Bamboo Grove, a stunning
new restaurant, in South Croydon, which offers a sophisticated twist to the traditional
Caribbean menu.
Cumberbatch, (the Savoy, the Ivy, Simpsons and Quaglinos) seamlessly fuses authentic
Caribbean flavours and modern European cuisine, to create an exotic mélange of
culinary influences, which he describes as - “Nouvelle Caribbean Cuisine”: lighter, more
delicate dishes, which are as pleasing to the palate as they are to the eye.
Using locally sourced, mainly organically grown ingredients, and an ethos for producing
healthy Caribbean cuisine, Cumberbatch has fashioned a unique menu (A La Carte,
Lunch, Set and children’s), which features mouthwatering signature dishes such as;
Gourmet Braised Oxtail with parmesan mash, Chilli Crab Claws and Goat Curry Tuille
topped with coconut shavings. Desserts include; Tropical Summer Pudding and
Chocolate Terrine with orange sorbet, whilst the children’s menu offers dishes such as
jerk chicken nuggets served with a mango dip and gourmet burgers with sweet potato
chips.
In addition to an extensive wine list, the restaurant’s exquisite cocktail menu features
concoctions such as; Frosted Rum Egg Nog, Passion Fruit and Pineapple Daiquiri and
Okra Punch.
Bamboo Grove’s 60-cover interior, with theatre style kitchen is a timeless, elegant
space, created with warm modern tones, which dispels preconceptions of the traditional
Caribbean dining experience.
