Akshay plays the role of a contractor, ‘Sachin Tichkule’, delivering a hilarious political satire on the mayhem of Mumbai’s roadworks and the transport system in India. Unfortunately for the film star, going unnoticed on a bike through a blockade of adoring fans that had gathered to see him made it impossible for him to even ride a few metres. Akshay therefore took to alternative strategies to strike a chord with his enthusiastic fans by addressing them in their local language, Marathi."Jai Maharashtra. It is not that I am learning Marathi, I know the language very well. I have a strong connection with Pune, in fact my first film was shot here. I am happy to be back in Pune," said Akshay Spreading the message of the film, the superstar later told reporters about how corruption is deep rooted in the system, hence good roads are impossible as the contractors have to bribe so many people."I think you should visit Mumbai and see the condition of the roads there. It's pathetic and I came to know that it was because the contractors just cannot do quality work because they have to bribe so many people. But it's how the system works. There is a message in our movie and if we are able to get it through this will serve our purpose," he said. ‘Khatta Meetha’ is presented by the super comic Jodi of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan, The film reveals the extent of corruption and bribery rampant in the system and the ingenious means one has to adopt in order to survive. Park and ride when ‘Khatta Meetha’ releases in cinema worldwide on 23rd July 2010. |
