Displaying an idyllic synergy between fashion and compassion. Sponsored by Wanis Ltd, the fashion show's designers include already established names including recent BEFFTA Young Designer award-winner Zaina Riech and award-nominees Patrick Kevin, and Mark Johnson, while others are fresh with beautiful garments in cutting-edge collections. A must see.
Stewarton Early Childhood Centre in Clarendon, Jamaica, is the only school in the area, packing all 82 students into a small dilapidated building, its roof still unrepaired after severe damage by the last major hurricane. The ceilings are collapsing, the toilet facilities dire, and the 3-5 year old pupils struggle to climb onto old rusty chairs that tower over their tiny frames. As the school receives no government funding, The Stewarton Early Childhood Centre Fund was set up this year to organise this event with all proceeds going directly to the school.
Caribbean businesses in the UK and the London community have really come together to support Stewarton Early Childhood Centre. The fundraising event on the 14/11/09 is sponsored by Wanis Ltd, Afro Caribbean Food Specialists, Grace Foods UK, Caribbean Shipping and many more. It's also catered by Refill Restaurant, Cummin' Up Restaurant, Roti Joupa, Mixed Blessings Bakery and others. The event kicks off in the afternoon with the fashion show showcasing some of London's most innovative and award wining young designers, followed by live music and an array of Jamaican cuisine.
Later on, it transforms into after-party, soundtracked by the most popular songs produced by Jamaican artists over the last few decades. The special guest DJs include DJ Fuzzy, Crazy Cousinz' Kodi Starr, and many more playing Reggae Funky House, Dancehall, R&B, and Roots & Culture. The event already promises to be the hottest of the season. It takes place at Karibu Education Centre, 7 Gresham Road, London SW9 7HP. Doors open from 14:30 till 02:00.
Looking forward to seeing you there!
