HENNA
The Style Guide for South Asian Fashion and Culture
London, November 1st 2008: Henna is a new independent magazine, reflecting the established and emerging values and cultures of the South Asian people, not only at home but in all the corners of the world they find themselves in, be it Bradford, Brooklyn or Bombay.

Henna’s cover star is Yasmin le Bon, one of the original supermodels. Since she first appeared on the fashion scene back in the early 1980’s, Yasmin has been an inspiration for thousand of Asian teenage girls around the world. Yasmin is joined by two of the world’s most successful male models, Cameron Alborzian and Moose Ali Khan. Together they talk us through their modeling careers and their discovery of Yoga.

Supermodel Veronica Webb features in a main fashion editorial together with a Q&A with NY designer Rachael Roy. Other highlights include Robert Thurman, father of Uma and a leading authority on Tibetan Buddhism, an interview with George Clooney and Natasha Law talks about her first exhibition soon to open in Mumbai

Henna is focused on fashion, culture, and lifestyle and showcases many of the worlds leading designers alongside beautiful Asian couture and the latest pręt a porter. Henna’s beauty offering covers the A-Z of the most prestigious brands and designer names and features plus a Q&A with renowned make up artist, Pat McGrath.

The travel section is a concise guide to the ‘must see’ destinations throughout Asia and food and drink highlights include Indian cooking by Hardeep Singh Kohli, ‘Pop A Dom’ focuses on which champagne to drink with curry and new recipe’s from Anjum Anand.

“Henna is a wonderful and inspiring portal into a vibrant and ever evolving culture and the content takes inspiration from all walks of life from the old guard to the avant-garde. We want to reflect the interests of the contemporary Asian and give the magazine a newspaper supplement feel, so there should be something in there for everyone. It will be an essential guide to the influences and the influential. Our aim for Henna is for it to become a global ambassador for South Asia. Which will hopefully appeal beyond purely an Asian audience.”
