Images Video Audio
Old Billingsgate Market will be playing host to an exclusive shopping event on Saturday 29 September. A traditional Indian Meena Bazaar will be open to the public for one day only where shoppers can purchase exclusive luxury and designer items from India.
Inspired by the traditional Indian open markets which catered to imperial households, the bazaar will feature some of the most fashionable and cutting edge designers from India. A host of high end goods will be on offer, including spectacular jewellery made from precious stones, luxury designer accessories and high end homeware. Visitors will also be able to purchase exclusive Ayurvedic beauty products and Indian craft items.

Items from India’s first designer boutique, Carma, will also be available, including designers such as London Fashion Week favourite, Manish Arora and Rohit Bal, who’s A list clients include Uma Thurman and Naomi Campbell.

Proceeds from the Meena Bazaar are being donated to Indian charity Pratham, which is committed to achieving a 95 per cent literacy rate for pre-school children in India. The initiative, called Read India, needs £11 million over the next two years to reach the 100 million Indian children of primary school age who are currently unable to read or write.
