Doing the right thing: Jim Pines on the Spike Lee Phenomenon

As part of Lewisham's Black History Month celebrations, Lewisham Council in association with Arcadia Books present, Doing the right thing: Jim Pines on the Spike Lee Phenomenon at Forest Hill Library on Thursday 29 October.
Jim Pines is well qualified to explore the contribution of Spike Lee in highlighting African-American themes and images in mainstream popular films since the 1980s.

His talk looks beyond the narrative films to take in Lee’s documentaries upon responses to Hurricane Katrina and black servicemen in World War Two and their political impact.

Signed copies of 'Doing the right thing: Jim Pines on the Spike Lee Phenomenon' will be available on the night.
