Campaign to end forced marriages in Aylesbury

Save Your Rights the campaign committed to ending forced marriages, is holding a seminar and debate in Aylesbury to raise awareness of this issue that robs people of their basic human rights. The event will take place on Monday 26th October 2009 at the Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School, Oxford Road, Aylesbury, HP21 8PE, from 10am - 3.30pm.

Dr Nazia Khanum OBE, director of Equality in Diversity, who conducted a study into forced marriages commissioned by Margaret Moran MP, the Home Office and the Metropolitan Police, will give the main address. The local Imam, Imam Dian will also give a speech, as will Lynne Townley (Crown Advocate, Senior Legal Advisor to the Principal Policy Advisor and SYR Secretary). This will be followed by a debate involving audience members, including community police officers, local school children, County Councillors and Aylesbury’s Mayor Ranjula Takodra.
