Stars from the showbiz world will join hands to raise much needed funds and spread awareness of the life changing work carried out by Food For Life Vrindavan.

The charity focuses on educational development and empowerment of women and children in areas of Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India. Their projects have expanded to building schools, food distribution, health care, building water wells in villages, and improving the environment and social welfare.

Bollywood heart-throb Vivek Oberoi will fly in from India to support and attend the charity evening on Saturday 10th October in Kenton, Middlesex. Also in attendance will be Eastenders star Nitin Ganatra, and providing top entertainment on the night will be musician Nirag Chag and singer Navin Kundra.

The money raised on the night will be used to help build the charity’s largest educational complex in the area which includes a nursery, primary and secondary school and an orphanage. The first phase of the project will cost £400,000 of which £150,000 has already been raised leaving a shortfall of £250,000. It will educate 1,440 children in need and Food for Life hope to open the doors of this institute in October 2010.

Due to his involvement with a specialist initiative called Project Devi (Development and Education of Vrindavan girls’ Initiative), Vivek has been touched by the charitable work of Food For Life Vrindavan and is hopeful about the prospects of their new school.

He said: “My aim is to get maximum public support and spread awareness of the appalling conditions in which so many Indian children in rural societies, especially young girls live in. There are girls who are married off at the age of 13-14, even though it is illegal. I am completely committed and honoured to be involved with this project.”

Nitin Ganatra added: “I fully support the life changing work that Food For Life Vrindavan has been doing for the past few years. By helping to raise money for their school, we will be able to give so many more children the basic human rights that they deserve.”
