Award-winning celebrities and best-selling artists are flocking to the Midlands to support Sandwell Asian Family Support Service (SAFSS) as it celebrates its 21st anniversary.
International stars including chart-topping performer Taz, music producer Mukhtar Sahota and singer-songwriter Am'nico will be performing at the dinner and dance event to celebrate the achievements of South Asian children and young people with disabilities.

Hosted by the BBC's Satnam Rana and BBC Asian Network's Sukhi Bart, the entertainment will showcase the best in British Asian entertainment and will include special performances by Hitesh (Man from Africa) and Rama, the Ashyana Dance Company, and dhol playing by Made of Music - audience participation required!

The event will raise funds for activities and trips for South Asian children and young people with disabilities thanks to sponsorship from local companies including Big Johns, Shere Khan, Bright Ideas, Hallbrookes Accountants, Khazana, Mann and Co solicitors. A number of local organisations are also supporting the event.

Chief Executive Parpinder K Dhatt said "My sincere thanks to all the celebrities and sponsors for their support and generous donations. At this event we will raise much needed funds for our work with children and young people with disabilities and make a real difference to the community that we serve. My thanks to the local community who have got behind this event and will make it a huge success."

The dinner and dance being held at Samsons Palace, Oldbury on 31st August 2007 and will commence at 7pm with a champagne reception and a three course meal.

Sandwell Asian Family Support Service was established in 1986 to respond to research conducted by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation which identified South Asian families were not taking up mainstream health and care services. SAFSS continues to provide a range of culturally sensitive services for children and young people with disabilities or life-limiting conditions and their families, working with families to break down the cultural and language barriers they face in accessing services and to lead more independent lives.
