Banking on BME business forum event for financial advice

Black and minority ethnic businesses in Sheffield are being offered the opportunity to pick up free tips from financial experts at a special event.
Sheffield BME Business Forum, which is backed by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, has organised an evening of tips and advice.

BME Forum co-ordinator Bernadette Grocock said: “Finance is one of the most frequent areas of concerns for businesses and so we wanted to provide the opportunity for companies to speak to experts first hand.

“Understanding what help and support is available for BME businesses is key to helping ease some of these concerns.

“Furthermore, the event should help companies understand how to access financial support and make the most of it to increase profitability and success.”

The Accessing Finance for BME Businesses event will also include details of a study undertaken by Ron Chapman and his team at Loughborough University on the struggles that African-Caribbean businesses experience.

There will also be a presentation from Business Link South Yorkshire and members of the BME Business Forum steering group will be on hand to answer queries on a one-to-one basis.

The event is sponsored by South Yorkshire Investment Fund (SYIF) who will also be making a presentation.

The event at the Holiday Inn Royal Victoria Hotel is free but places are limited and must be booked in advance. The event on Thursday 28 September runs from 6pm to 9.30pm. To book your free place please contact the Chamber Events team on 0114 272 0950.
