ANNOUNCING THE RT HON SADIQ KHAN MP
AS THE KEYNOTE SPEAKER

The Asian Media & Marketing Group can today announce the Rt Hon Sadiq Khan MP as the keynote speaker for the Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards 2010.
Sadiq Khan was appointed as the Minister of State for Transport on 8th June 2009 and was the first British Asian to join the cabinet, making him a truly inspirational figurehead within multi-cultural society in Britain today and the perfect choice as this year’s Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards keynote speaker.

As the Minister of State for Transport, Sadiq’s responsibilities include leading on transport business in the Commons, city and regional networks, including London and Crossrail, as well as supporting environmental and climate change issues.

The Rt Hon Sadiq Khan, Minister of State for Transport said: “It is an honour to both attend and address the Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards 2010. The evening will be a fantastic celebration of the amazing contribution British Asians and their businesses make to our country.”

“The world-wide economic downturn has been a huge challenge to many businesses, but the British Asian community has shown how resilient it is. The community continues to make a disproportionate contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the UK.“

“I am looking forward to meeting the entrepreneurs, CEOs and business-innovators who will be attending the awards; they are great ambassadors for the UK economy.”

In its 13th year, The Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards 2010 will celebrate the ambition, ability and achievement of the most successful business minds in the UK today. In times of tough economic climates it is important to praise and celebrate those that have achieved outstanding results and this year’s event will recognise those with special dedication to business achievement, commitment and entrepreneurial flair in the past 12 months.

The evening promises to be a stand-out event in the Asian business calendar, with a star-studded guest list and a glamorous location - the impressive Sofitel Hotel in London Heathrow’s Terminal 5. It is an essential business event for Britain’s many and varied multicultural companies and entrepreneurs, and provides an opportunity to network with many high-profile business leaders, sporting heroes and celebrities alike. Former guests include HRH The Prince of Wales, HRH The Princess Royal and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The awards include:

Asian Business Lifetime Achievement Award
Asian Business of the Year
Asian Business Young Entrepreneur of the Year
Asian Business Social Entrepreneur of the Year
International Asian Business of the Year
Asian Business Hotelier of the Year
Asian Profitable Business Award

This year’s Eastern Eye Asian Business Awards will also re-launch The Asian Rich List – the definitive index of Asian wealth in Britain.

Compiled by a panel of experienced journalists and business experts and accountants, The Asian Rich List tells 101 inspiring stories of successful Asians in business. Following a year of severe economic downfall, the list promises to provide some interesting results with key players having dramatically fallen off and young, inspiring business brains making their first entry.
