Dr Bob Ramdhanie will bring more than 40 years experience as an arts activist, dance researcher, lecturer and producer to the Forum that provides strategic advice to Advantage West Midlands and other partners. He founded the Kokuma Dance Company, established and directed The Handsworth Cultural Centre and The Cave Arts Centre and co-founded and has successfully managed, Black Voices, the UK’s premiere a cappella performance company, for the past twenty-two years. Bob has served on numerous committees nationally and internationally and is a Fellow of Johns Hopkins University (USA), where he researched fund raising techniques amongst a range of African American third sector organisations. After graduating as an Electrical Engineer, Bob completed his MA (Social Work) and MBA before completing the first PhD in African dance in the UK, at Warwick University. He is the Director of CMAT – The Centre for Music and Arts Technology. “I am committed to working with others to establish more BME Social Enterprises and social entrepreneurs and am passionate about nurturing, developing, supporting and exporting, quality world music and culture around the world but with a distinctive ‘Brum’ flavour,” said Bob. |
