THE West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum is backing an initiative between Chinese Restaurants in Birmingham and the City Council.
For the second year running, Chinese restaurants and takeaways in Birmingham had the opportunity to enter the Chinese Food Hygiene Award competition, designed to reward businesses which can show that they maintain good standards of hygiene and cleanliness to protect their customers from the risk of food poisoning.

Birmingham Chinese Society runs the scheme in conjunction with Birmingham City Council’s Regulatory Services.
“We are so delighted to work in partnership with Birmingham City Council to promote the Chinese Food Hygiene Awards a wonderful opportunity for Chinese caterers to promote the high standard of food hygiene in their businesses,” said Irene Chu, a member of the West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum and Chief Executive of the Birmingham Chinese Society.

The awards marked the success of Chinese catering businesses which have demonstrated their commitment to incorporate food hygiene of the highest order into the daily running of their restaurants and takeaway businesses to protect the health of their customers.

Five Chinese caterers received hygiene awards - Golden Pond, Unit B201, Arcadian Centre, Hurst Street, Birmingham B5 4TD; Wok Express, 13 Station Road, Erdington, Birmingham B23 6UB; China Express, 390 Walsall Road, Birmingham B42 2LX
Dragon BBQ, Ladywood Middleway, Birmingham B16 8LP.
