London's ethnic minority businesses get set to meet leading blue chip buyers

Images Video Audio
Ethnic minority-owned businesses across London and the south east will have the chance to meet key representatives from seven blue chip organisations at a special ‘Meet the Buyer’ procurement event organised by Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK).
The event, to be held at the Institute of Directors on Pall Mall in London on 11th September 2008, will enable minority business owners to engage and network with senior buyers from ExxonMobil, Merril Lynch, Motorola, JPMorgan Chase, Tyco, Capital One and Aramark.

MSDUK is a not-for-profit corporate membership organisation promoting supplier diversity in the UK and helping minority supplier development.

Explains Mayank Shah, director of MSDUK: “We’ve worked with our member corporations to identify business opportunities which could potentially be fulfilled by ethnic minority businesses in the area.

“Minority business suppliers are invited to attend corporate procurement workshops to learn how to supply to large corporate organisations; meet commodity buyers for one-to-one sessions and explore business opportunities.”

Continues Mayank: “Specific opportunities exist for suppliers who work in the area of IT project management, ethnic food supplies and catering, event management, print manufacturers, corporate gifts and facilities management. Suppliers of these services should attend this event and meet commodity buyers to discuss potential business opportunities. .”

MSDUK has organised eight ‘Meet the Buyer’ events in the last 18 months, attracting over 400 ethnic minority businesses and 100 corporate buyers to meet and discuss business opportunities worth nearly £9m.
