Roma Tearne makes new TV Book Club list

ROMA TEARNE PICKED FOR NEW CHANNEL 4 BOOK CLUB

BRIXTON BEACH by Sri Lankan author Roma Tearne has been picked for the new TV Book Club starting on More 4 this Sunday, 17th January.

ROMA TEARNE is the only South Asian author chosen by Amanda Ross for the new show taking over from Richard & Judy's book club.
The programme is produced by Amanda Ross at Cactus TV, creators of the original Book Club on Richard and Judy, The TV Book Club will review the most compelling reads for 2010, presented by stars Jo Brand, Gok Wan, Laila Rouass, Dave Spikey and Nathaniel Parker.

BRIXTON BEACH will be aired on Sunday 28th February at 7.30pm and again on Monday 1st March at 12.05pm, the same week as World Book Day: Thursday 4th March.

ROMA TEARNE fled Sri Lanka aged ten and grew up in Brixton, South London and is a writer and artist. Her debut novel Mosquito was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel prize, the Authors’ Club First Novel Award, the Kiriyama Prize and the Waverton Good Read in 2008; Bone China was published in 2008, and her fourth novel, The Swimmer, set on the Suffolk coast, comes out in May 2010. Her artwork has been displayed around the world including in Edinburgh, Oxford, Cairo, Rome and Moscow. She currently lives in Oxford with her husband and family.

Roma is one of the World Book Day authors and will be available for interview, to talk about the new TV Book Club, World Book Day and her novel Brixton Beach, from Monday 22nd February to Friday 5th March
