Love unrequited or lessons learned? A trans-Atlantic friendship that led to unrequited love, pain, & emotional healing

So what kind of emotional retard falls in love with one of her best friends, tells him about it, doesn't have the favour returned, and then writes a book about it...?
zenOPHOBIA is a creative nonfiction novella written by Kedeyi Truhart, a black woman living in London who has described herself as an emotional retard. Since writing the book, however, she has examined her self-diagnosed retardation and takes a more positive view of love, acknowledging how fear can keep it at bay, even in seemingly intimate relationships.

zenOPHOBIA is an account of a transatlantic friendship in which the author slowly finds she's fallen in love with her friend who lives in New York. As he goes on to date someone else, she has to deal with the pain of her emotional dysfunction until she can break through that pain to learn from her plight and discover her inner truth.

Mostly written in just under a year, zenOPHOBIA does, however, contain some of the author's previously unpublished writing about her formative years as an abused child in foster care. Also contained in the novella are edited excerpts of emails between the author and her friend in New York. While it explores notions of love and fear, the book is also an observation of the use of modern of technology and social networking in the maintenance of relationships in today's society.

The author decided that she would put a signed copy of her self-published book up for auction on eBay with bids starting at £3.50. She plans to do so for a year, in a series of auctions lasting 10 days each. 50% of any proceeds will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care. zenOPHOBIA is currently in its second of such auctions and is yet to raise any bids.

zenOPHOBIA is currently available via online POD publisher, lulu.com, with wider distribution via Amazon.com and selected bookstores, from mid April. It retails at £6.99 for the paperback or a pdf version can be downloaded for £3.75.
