Our partnership with BBC London will see them broadcasting the Sports Show, presented by Phil Parry, live from Rich Mix from 2pm to 7pm, with loads of exciting guests talking about their hopes for 2012. The BBC will be bringing with them Paul Ross, who is not only a born and bred East Londoner, but is truly passionate about the impact The Olympics will have on the area. He will be joined by TV reporter, Matt Morris, who will be on hand to give tips on filming and the Olympics Correspondent, Adrian Warner, will run a session where the public try to catch him out with questions he can't answer about the Olympics. There are also plans for the BBC to do a live TV broadcast from the event. BBC London’s unstoppable DJ Eddie Nestor will be on stage throughout the afternoon compering an action-packed entertainment programme. These will include: live feats of sporting brilliance by athletes from London Youth Games, the astonishing performance poetry of Apples and Snakes’ poets, a furious showcase of monologues and improvisation brought to you by Monologueslam and some of the city’s finest young musical talents, brought together through Sound Connections’ Wired4Music programme. Rich Mix Live will also give you the chance to ask your heroes from the sports field and the people in charge of making the Olympics happen what you’ve always wanted to know, with a panel Q&A with representatives from The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (guests TBC). All this broadcast live from the building on BBC London 94.9. Rounding off our entertainment programme for the day will be a Q&A with some true comedy geniuses: the writers and actors from the award-winning comedy The Inbetweeners. The Olympic Open Weekend is also intended to create a challenge for its audiences, and especially for young people. To ensure Rich Mix Live achieves this, Rich Mix Live will host a range of workshops where young people can pick up new skills and challenge themselves. These workshops will again reflect the cultural diversity of the East London area, with an attention-grabbing art workshop delivered by mutli-media artist and local favourite Chila Burman. Children can get an ear for a drum beat and make some music in one of Chris Brannick’s legendary percussion workshops, brought to you by CoMA. Young people (12-19 years) can sharpen their pencils and get their voices heard with journalism training by industry experts Headliners. There will be the opportunity to learn how to play Bangladeshi table-top game Carrom with a team of helpful instructors, open to all ages. You can even take in some art, with photographer Philippe Sibelly’s ‘The World in One City’, a unique image linking together Londoners from every one of the Olympic list of nations, unveiled and exhibited on the day. Bringing the celebrations into the evening, from 7.00 to 12.00pm musicians and DJs will perform live on the Rich Mix stage. DJ Ritu will be broadcasting her BBC London world music programme 'A World In London' from the BBC studio in the building. She will be bringing with her musicians from London’s Carnaval del Pueblo, the largest Latin American out-door festival in Europe, held annually in Brockwell park. Finishing off the evening will be new supergroup Asheber and the Afrikan Revolution, playing a seamless and healing mixture of continental-wide Afrikan musical styles, and their very own DJ KMT, cooking up a heady mix of urban music styles.
