Jasmin Vardimon Company (JVC) is one of Britain’s most pioneering physical dance theatre companies, creating work that excites both the eye and the mind by pushing the boundaries of human physicality whilst engaging in universal, contemporary themes that strike an emotional chord. Vardimon’s powerful art of story-telling integrates multiple layers of communication - combining dance, movement, video, animation, text and music. Her sharp instincts and keen observations of human behaviour deliver beautifully precise characterisation, powerfully brought to life by her company of versatile dancers. Cast from around the world, each performer brings his/her own unique experience, with dynamic results. Celebrating the company’s 10th anniversary, YESTERDAY revisits and reworks selected moments from previous JVC productions. Developing past ideas with a fresh vision and a breadth of experience, this new work remains as socially relevant and stirring as ever. YESTERDAY revisits highlights from: Justitia (UK tour); PARK (UK tour presented by the Dance Touring Partnership); Lullaby (UK & International tour); Ticklish, Tête and Lure Lure Lure (UK & International tours). Associate Artist at Sadler’s Wells since 2006, Vardimon has won a number of international awards, including the prestigious Jerwood Choreography Award in 2000. She was previously a Yorkshire Dance Partner from 1999-2004 and an Associate Artist at The Place in 1998. Her acclaimed piece Lullaby gained her selection for the BBC documentary 'Dance Film Academy’ in 2005. As a performer, she was nominated 'Best Female Artist' at the 2003 Critics Circle National Dance Award. Choreographed and Directed by Jasmin Vardimon, YESTERDAY is created with and performed by a company of eight international performers: Paul Blackman, Luke Burrough, Tim Casson, Mafalda Deville, Christine Gouzelis, David Nondorf, YunKrung Song and Elena Stavropoulou. The creative team reunites Associate Director Guy Bar-Amotz, Lighting Designer Chahine Yavroyan, Costume Designer Deborah Thomas, Sound Designer Ohad Fishof and Animation by Michael Klega. YESTERDAY is produced in association with Brighton Dome with support from Sadler’s Wells, National Theatre and The Place Theatre, London. Jasmin Vardimon Company is funded by Arts Council England. The company will tour YESTERDAY nationally and internationally in 2009 - schedule to be announced.
