Young Scot making it to the finals at UK

The meteoric rise of Yasmin Mahmood in the world of Asian media and events was confirmed last week when the 26-year-old was shortlisted for one of the UK’s premier professional awards ceremonies.

The Glaswegian was named in the Media Professional of the Year category of the Asian Media Awards which take place in the Manchester Hilton on October 31.

Yasmin, who started as a trainee with the Oceanic Group just five years ago, confirmed her status in the industry earlier in 2013 when she was promoted to become the firm’s Operations Director.

Oceanic Group produces some of the UK’s major ethnic and mainstream events, including The English and Scottish Curry Awards, British Muslim Awards, British Indian Awards, English and Scottish Business Awards and work with clients such as Lloyds Banking Group, Emirates, HSBC, Grant Thornton, Pepsi and Hungry House.

Yasmin said: “When I started we were involved in just four events in Scotland. We now have 18 across the UK. It is a great honour to receive this recognition and I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to my progress so far.”
