Lifestyle Entrepreneur, Umer Ashraf won the Business Award last night at the gala dinner held at Assembly Rooms, George Street, Edinburgh.
Winners included Azeem Ibrahim who scooped the Muslim Contributor of the Year Award, Strathclyde Police Muslim Association winning the Citizenship & Society Award and Madjid Bougherra getting the Sports Award.
When receiving the award, Umer said: "I am delighted to have been nominated for this award and am honoured to have won this prestigious award. It has been an interesting four and a half years in business, as well as exciting. 2009 was undoubtedly one of the toughest year for me personally as well as the business but we have come out of it with a few bruises here and there."
Umer added: "We’ve had steady growth which is an important thing and It’s moments like these that make me want to go and work even harder".
Umer’s latest addition to his empire is the flagship store of iCafe on 250 Woodlands Road in Glasgow which was officially opened by the Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP in January 2010.
The company plans to have a presence in south side of Glasgow by the end of 2010.
