“The Eastern Eye Scotland, Scottish Asian Business Awards are always fantastically received and this year was no exception. We had the honour of Rt Hon Alex Salmond MP MSP First Minister of Scotland as our keynote speaker and guest presenter of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award; and the Secretary of State for Scotland Jim Murphy came up from London to speak and present the Small Business of the Year Award. Many of the past winners returned to applaud the winners this year – with last years Lifetime Achievement Award winner Mohammad Sarwar MP presenting this years Award to his brother Mohammad Ramzan.
“The economic downturn is undoubtedly being felt – with numbers attending this years Awards dropping as belts tighten. However, the Scottish Asian Business Awards ceremony last night continued to embody the strength of the Scottish Asian Business Community – the untameable entrepreneurial spirit that seems innate within the community was rife within the room. The event was filled with many great businessmen and women, many great friends and business rivals, celebrating together individual and cumulative success.”
