Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh and Ajmal Mushtaq are set to host the Scottish Asian Business Awards 2013 presented by Bank of Scotland

Lawyer and actress Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh is set to take the stage with Award winning chef and restaurateur Ajmal Mushtaq and co host the Scottish Asian Business Awards presented by Bank of Scotland.

The awards recognise the success and achievements of Scotland’s Asian business men and women. The event has become a highlight in the Scottish Business calendar and is attended by the biggest names in Scottish business and politics and this year will be no exception.

“I’m delighted to co-host the Scottish Asian Business Awards 2013.” Commented the SNP candidate for the European Parliamentary elections 2014, Tasmina Ahmed Sheikh.

” I look forward to seeing our Asian businesswomen and businessmen, duly recognised for their achievements and outstanding contributions to the Scottish economy and am immensely proud to be part of this thriving community. ”

Over 500 people will attend the glittering ceremony, now in its eighth year, which takes place at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow on Wednesday, December 11.

“I am delighted to be co-hosting the Scottish Asian Business Awards 2013. It is an honour to spend an evening with the finest Asian entrepreneurs in Scotland. It promises to be a truly special event” comment Ajmal Mushtaq, Business Expert and Management Consultant, Chef Director of the critically acclaimed and multi-award Mushtaqs Restaurant in Hamilton, Scotland.

As well as recognising the achievements of Asian men and women at the forefront of their industries the event will be raising money for The Well Foundation. Funds raised for the Awards this year will go to Malawi, where The Well Foundation hope to build and improve classrooms aiming to eradicate instances of children being taught under tress or in crumbling, unsafe buildings.

A spokesperson from The Well Foundation said “We share a common passion for overcoming poverty through education. Research to date has shown that education offers individuals and poor communities the best possible, most sustainable, route out of poverty.”
