The agency specialises in public relations and marketing targeted at the Polish community. The owner of the company, Matylda Setlak, believes that her agency, which focuses on marketing to Poles in Britain, was the first to specialise in this field.
‘Two years ago, I noticed that some British private and public sector companies wanted to target Poles but often did not know how to do it’, says the owner. ‘Polish people often work long hours and are keen savers, which makes them desirable customers’, adds Ms Setlak.
Before Setlak PR was established, there were ethnic marketing agencies that targeted the Asian and Black communities, but there was none performing the same role for the Polish community.
‘Within those two years we have completed some 30 PR and ethnic marketing projects directed towards the Poles’, says Matylda Setlak. Setlak PR’s client base comprises mainly British and Polish companies from the following sectors: financial, telecoms, property, media, educational, publishing and government bodies.
Last year, just before the general election in Poland, Ms Setlak advised a leading Polish political party on how to promote itself to the Polish electorate in the UK. Previously, she had been promoting Polish artists performing for Poles in London and all over the UK. These included the Polish acting legend Cezary Pazura and the stand-up comedy shows of popular Polish comedy combo Kon Polski.
Now the agency is helping British financial, telecom and property companies to take advantage of the ‘Polish pound’. Just recently, the agency won a contract for a big Polish event which is going to be organised in Scotland next year as a part of the Homecoming Scotland event.
