Polish Business Event in Glasgow

Polish Business Event in Glasgow

Since Poland entered the EU in 2004, tens of thousands of Poles have discovered that the UK is a great place to set up and grow businesses. Today, are running their own businesses in the UK. The reason lies in the ease of doing business. According to the World Bank, the UK has the world’s seventh-best business-friendly environment, while Poland languishes in 62nd place. Rather than worrying about paper work, inspections and visiting government offices, Poles running their businesses in Britain can focus on creating wealth – for themselves and for the UK economy. “Poland’s loss is the UK’s gain,” said Michael Dembinski, head of policy at the British Polish Chamber of Commerce.

The BPCC has been actively organising events for Polish entrepreneurs – at first, only in London, but from this spring in Scotland and in the North of England. For the fourth time this year, the BPCC will be bringing together Polish entrepreneurs to discuss issues common to running and growing a business in the UK.

The main subject for discussion in Glasgow will be how to find new clients, looking at both the private and public sectors. Pauline Wallace, representing Glasgow City Council, will focus on public tenders, in particular those connected with the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. David Atkinson will talk about business-to-business marketing. There will also be case studies from Polish entrepreneurs who have already found success selling their goods and services to the public sector in Scotland. They will share information about how to prepare cost estimates when looking for new business.

As well as presenting practical business information, the seminars will also offer the opportunity to get to know other Polish entrepreneurs and to swap business cards among one another. The informal part of the meetings starts with speed-networking, where participants have 30 seconds each to present themselves and their businesses to everyone else. Informal talks continue over a glass of wine. Please come along with a large stock of business cards!
