Passport to Success – BAME Businesses line up for Olympic contracts.

Black and Minority Ethnic businesses in West London are being lined up to apply for Olympic contracts that could create new jobs.

In the run-up to the 2012 Games, companies in Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow will get help to win business at an event on June 18.

“We are trying to give our local businesses an advantage”, explained Frank Wingate, Chief Executive of West London Business, who are co-sponsoring ‘Passport to Success’ at the Advait Sattavis Gam Centre, Wembley.

“There are huge opportunities to get involved as the cascade of
contracts from the Olympics continues. Large companies are reviewing their supply chains to provide opportunities for smaller businesses. This workshop is designed to enable firms to make the most of these opportunities”.

He added that the event would give small firms the confidence to sell to different types of organisations and aim for higher value contracts and cover the key elements of tendering to both the private and public sectors.

The event is from 9.30am – 5.00pm, and is split into two parts with a morning workshop for newcomers to tendering and afternoon seminars with practical advice and case studies on how to win Olympic business.
