mtxpress hosts community launch event

The official launch of mtxpress, an online, low-cost and convenient way to send money to family and friends in Bangladesh, took place last Saturday in the heart of London’s Bangladeshi community at Tower Hamlets’ Toynbee Hall. Special guests at the event included Mr. A. E. A. Muhaimen, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank, which is also the partner of mtxpress and AHM Ahsan, Commercial Councillor for the Bangladesh High Commission.

During the event, Randall Harper, CEO for mtxpress, conducted a live money transfer to demonstrate how the company’s secure SMS platform enables money to be sent in seconds to Bangladesh. The process appeared to be very easy and once registered on the site at www.mtxpress.com, customers can send money securely using their debit card. Within seconds, the recipient of the money transfer is notified by SMS message that their money is available for collection at any one of BRAC Bank’s locations.

One of the added benefits of the mtxpress service is that there is no requirement to have a BRAC Bank account to receive money, which means that the service is accessible to the millions of people in Bangladesh that do not operate bank accounts, but make extensive use of mobile phones. However, it is also possible to credit accounts maintained at BRAC Bank. Shortly, the service is being expanded to incorporate the ability to credit accounts at up to 23 other banks in Bangladesh.

Given the concerns of the community, security is high on the agenda for mtxpress. Randall Harper explained that one of the key attributes of the service is that the funds are kept in a designated, secure account at Barclays Bank before being drawdown by BRAC to pay beneficiaries, thus providing customers with comfort that their funds are secure. With its multiple bank-grade security checkpoints for both the sender and recipient of the money transfer, customers have certainty throughout the transaction lifecycle leading to complete peace of mind. In addition, customers are able to track their money transfer online at every step of the transaction.

Speaking at the event, Randall Harper, CEO for mtxpress said: “We are delighted to officially launch mtxpress at the heart of the Bangladeshi community in London. Our service is all about offering convenience and value for money. We do this by being an online service, so you do not need to leave your home or workplace to send money, and by offering extremely competitive exchange rates and fees starting at £2.”

Mr Muhaimen, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank commented on the strong partnership his bank has with mtxpress: “Our association with mtxpress gives Bangladeshis in the UK a convenient, cost-effective and safe way to put money into the hands of their loved ones. It is a service that every Bangladeshi in the UK should know about, as it will make a positive difference to the way in which they send money home.”

mtxpress outlined its commitment to continue developing its service to address the needs of the Bangladeshi community. Importantly, the mtxpress service is available in both Bengali and English.
