Media Trust’s business development manager, Lydia Frempong from North Cheam, has won the ‘Leadership within the Workplace’ award in the 2010 Precious Awards.

The awards, which celebrate the achievements of inspirational women of colour in business and leadership, took place on 8 November 2010 at The British Library.

Lydia Frempong said: “‘Winning this award is an absolute honour, my life’s mantra is to be inspirational and to help make positive change happen. My passion, drive and appetite for life have led to me winning this wonderful award. I am so proud to have been recognised for my leadership work at Media Trust, I feel even more empowered to encourage and support others”.

Foluke Akinlose MBE,
of Precious Online Magazine and Network, said: “The Precious Awards were launched to celebrate and highlight the vital contribution women of colour are making in business and in the workplace. I think in these difficult times it takes courage to open up your working life for scrutiny and this year’s outstanding winners reveal just a hint of some of the great work these women are doing. These awards are about showcasing and applauding talent and determination and the valuable contribution women of colour such as Lydia make. I’m delighted that the importance of the awards has been recognised with a message of support from the Prime Minister David Cameron and I’m looking forward to charting the continued success of all the winners. These are definitely women to watch.”
