Imperial Golf Estates plans to put Punjab on the global golfing circuit

The Imperial Golf Estate plans to put Ludhiana, Punjab on the global golfing circuit as a Championship Nicklaus Design course may attract international players and golf tournaments, making Punjab a golfing destination. Punjab has a very rich sporting tradition, and in the past decade or so, has produced great golfing talent, such as Jeev Milkha Singh and Gaganjeet Bhullar, who are ranked number 2 and 3 respectively in India.

“We are definitely hoping to host international golfing events in the future at this Golf Estate and who knows, we get to see Tiger Woods teeing with Jeev Milkha Singh here someday,” said Mr Vijay Chowdhry, Director, Imperial Golf Estate at a press briefing at Crowne Plaza London-St. James on Thursday, 7 April, 2011.

Talking about the Golf Estate, he added, “The project has received all requisite government permissions and the work on the site has already commenced.” The Imperial Golf Estate is envisaged as an exclusive and first-of-its-kind residential community, consisting of an 18-hole Championship Golf Course conceived by Nicklaus Design, a company created by the legendary Jack Nicklaus.

Mr Kapil Dev, legendary Indian cricketer, who was also present at the press briefing, talked about The Imperial Golf Estate and its role in the promotion of golf in the country. He said, “We must encourage such projects work towards the upliftment of society. Bigger organisations similar to the Imperial Golf Estate need to make the effort to encourage sport academies in all parts of our country,” he said.

“I am confident that golf is going to get much bigger in our country and younger generations need to be given great international level facilities in sports to encourage the immense talent we have in India. I also wish to encourage the new generation to not spend all their time on computers, but to go out and physically sweat it out and play,” he said.

Spread over 280 acres of land off the Ferozepur Road, the facility when completed will have beautifully designed villas and homes dotting the fairways and the greens.

Located at strategic points across the estate, overlooking the stunning stretch of the golf course, the Imperial Residences offer elegant homes designed by award winning Montreal-based architects in a range of options, starting from the 1600 sq ft Imperial suit to the palatial 7500 sq ft Pine Manors the epitomize luxurious living. Also available are the Imperial Lots which vary from 350 sq yards to 1000 sq yards.
In addition to bringing enormous employment opportunities to Punjab, this project will also encourage young people to take up the sport through the Imperial Golf Academy & Driving Range, which is already functional.

The scale of The Imperial Golf Estate in Ludhiana was on such a large scale that Silverglades and BCRE, (Brack Capital Real Estate), an international real estate group with major real estate projects spread over USA and Europe, pooled resources. Enthused by the future prospects of this mega project, IL&FS investment manager Ltd. (IIML), one of the oldest and largest equity firm in India, have also participated in the equity of the project in the belief that The Imperial Golf Estate will set very high standards whilst creating a great golf centric real estate project in the heart of Punjab.
