Emirates, which operates a twice daily service from Birmingham International Airport to Dubai, has joined the Forum as a Corporate partner, alongside international law firm Pinsent Masons.
The airline allows passengers to fly from the West Midlands via Dubai to China and the wider Asia-Pacific area.
The Forum was launched by the Chinese Ambassador to the UK in July and its membership has been growing steadily. Its purpose is to promote trade and investment between China and Birmingham, along with the wider Midlands region.
Laurie Berryman, Emirates Manager UK North, said: “We are delighted to join the Birmingham-China Business Forum as a corporate partner and hope this move will further demonstrate our commitment to the business community in the West Midlands.
“China is becoming an increasingly popular destination for both business and leisure travellers, so we are pleased to help cement the links between the UK and this influential market.”
Mike Whitby, Leader of Birmingham City Council, said: “The Birmingham-China Business Forum continues to grow and we are very pleased that Emirates has decided to join us.
“It is an international carrier with a very strong brand, and a growing presence at Birmingham Airport. It helps connect our city to the Middle East, and beyond to Asia and to Africa.
“I am looking forward to working with the airline and our other corporate partners to promote Birmingham’s status as a global city with a local heart”
