Deans Pharmacy Teams up with Children’s Charity for 4th Store Launch

Deans Pharmacy Teams up with Children

A successful pharmacy chain owner, and past Scottish Asian Business Award winner has teamed up with Yorkhill Children’s Foundation to help raise money for charity in the run up to this year’s Scottish Asian Business Awards

Deans Pharmacy was built with one main founding principle in mind: Serving the community. With the opening of a new store in Wishaw on November the 15th they aim to do just that.
Teaming up with the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation in the run up to the 2010 Scottish Asian Business Awards, the new branch will donate 25% of all income on the opening day towards providing much needed funding and vital equipment for the children’s hospital.

David Welch, Head of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications at Yorkhill Children’s Foundation praised the pharmacies charitable efforts;

“We are delighted and extremely grateful for the support we are receiving from Deans Pharmacy. This is a fantastic and extremely generous way to support the local community and Yorkhill Children’s Foundation’s funding of equipment and projects invaluable to the treatment, care, physical and mental wellbeing of sick children and babies at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill in Glasgow and at other related facilities throughout NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.”

Furthermore, with charity collection across all four Deans Pharmacy stores, the group has promised to match all donations collected until the 24th of November when the total amount raised will be announced at the Scottish Asian Business Awards 2010, thus doubling the potential sum raised by their pharmacies.

One of the Founders of Deans Pharmacies recently voiced his support for the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation and its partnership with the Scottish Asian Business Awards;

“Yorkhill Hospital provides a fantastic service for many children from all over Scotland. The Yorkhill Children’s Foundation do fantastic work to provide enhanced medical equipment and resources which benefits sick children and babies at the hospital. The Scottish Asian Business Awards have had a strong partnership with the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation for a number of years and we look forward to supporting their efforts in the future.”

Founded 4 years ago by Arif Hanif: 2008 Young Achiever of the Year at the Scottish Asian Business Awards, and his colleague John Connolly, Deans Pharmacy has come a long way in a short time. With stores in Kilmarnock, Falkirk and Livingstone and soon to be Wishaw, the company is steadily growing and has established an extensive patient base. However, the aims of the founders have and always will be in serving their local communities. This is evident from the pharmacies locations which tend to be the heart of local communities. Rather than having to take an often long and difficult journey across the city to get to their nearest pharmacies, Deans Pharmacy offers a much more local and thus easier way for inhabitants to receive treatment and services they need, minus the long journey. In partnership with the NHS, they currently provide help to combat smoking and weight issues among others, as well as providing innovative services such as in pharmacy flu vaccination. Furthermore, they work closely with GPs in the area in order to provide an effective, consistent and efficient service to the general public.
