Elisabeth Campbell, Assistant Director of Enterprise with the Department for Business and Regulatory Reform, was in Birmingham to learn about the work of the West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum.
She also provides the secretarial support for the National Minority Ethnic Task Force.
During the visit to the offices of Advantage West Midlands she was briefed on activities including the UKTI diversity programme to help businesses from the region to export.
Information was also provided about work being done by Heart of England Fine Foods to help minority ethnic businesses and activities to improve skills and training.
“We hope that the Task Force at national level and other regions can learn from the work being done in the West Midlands,” said Mohammad Nazir, Chairman of the West Midlands Minority Ethnic Business Forum.
“The great ethnic diversity of our region is one of its greatest strengths and the region needs to help its minority ethnic businesses to fulfil their potential.”
